Gertrud Levit, writing for the Baltic Business News, discusses the failure of government in Tallinn to deal with international corruption. This is somewhat surprising given that Estonia regularly scores at the top of the Transparency International’s (TI) Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) among communist states.
Levit, quoting a report on Estonia by the TI, says:
In 2006 and 2007 not a single case of international bribery was looked into in Estonia…[and the country] doesn’t even have laws to fight international bribery.
